Not only is emerald the birthstone for may, it’s also Pantone’s color of the year for 2013. Translating the trend to nails puts the weather’s personality in the spotlight. Strong gem tones make a statement of confidence. When it’s a green it’s also quite playful and a little bit naughty.

Highlighting: placing foils around the face and through the crown horizontally and processing the hair to a pale blonde that’s similar to the inside of a banana. Balayage: balayaging through the crown and around the face, painting fairly large pieces with the bleach, process to pale blonde.

The Timeless Beauty

The traditional bride will always reign, but many are bidding farewell to severe updos like the slick bun. Classic brides are still looking for a more formal look, but with hair that is softly pulled back with rougher texture around the hairline. For classic brides wishing for a long-hair look, Master Stylists at Polished Outlook Salon note that soft texture will cascade down the back while the top and sides are softly pulled away from the face and secured with a variety of hair adornments.

‘Regal’, ‘romantic’, and ‘fairy tale’ are common words we’re hearing from all of our classic brides this season.

Anti Aging Peptides in Your Skin Care Products

Science has proven that peptides can reduce wrinkles in your skin and reverse the signs of aging. So how do peptides in skin care make your skin look younger?

 

What are Peptides?

Human skin is comprised mostly of collagen. Collagen is a protein comprised of long segments of amino acids arranged like a chain, it provides a foundation and thickness for skin.

When collagen breaks down, short segments of amino acids are formed. These are tiny proteins and active molecules known as peptides. Peptides in skin care can provide significant anti-aging benefits.

Skin Care Peptides Encourage Collagen Production for More Youthful Skin

When collagen is depleted by age and environmental factors, including sunlight, it is not fully replaced. As a result, smooth, young skin slowly becomes thinner and wrinkled over time. As collagen deterorates, it produces certain peptides. Research from National Institute of Health (NIH) shows that these peptides send a “message” to your skin that it has lost collagen and needs to generate more. When skin care peptides are applied topically, your skin “thinks” that it’s a collagen break down product and that your body needs to manufacture new collagen. So you can successfully minimize wrinkles and give your skin a more youthful appearance with the application of skin care peptides that trigger the production of collagen.

The most commonly used peptides in skin care is Matrixyl (palmitoyl or oligopeptide pentapeptide). This is a neuropeptide that reduces fine lines very well. Research shows that peptide play an important role in repairing wounds and improving skin conditions, including eczema and dermatitis. No adverse side effects have been reported in the use of skin care peptide.

Anti Aging Peptides Reduce the Appearance of Wrinkles

Wrinkles creams & serums containing anti aging peptides are popular and effective skin care products. Argireline (Acetyl hexapeptide) has been marketed as a safer, less expensive, and non-invasive alternative to Botox. This anti-aging peptide works by causing facial muscles to relax, thereby minimizing wrinkles.

What are peptides you’ll find in skin care products? Palmitoyl pentapetids, more commonly known as Matrixyl is included in many anti-aging product preparations and includes of two paired amino acids attached to a fatty acid to promote absorption. Scientists at the NIH discovered that Matrixyl triggers the formation of several important skin components, including elastin and collagen. The Chop

The haircut of the year has arrived. Vogue is calling it the Chop, others have named it Karlie, after the model Karlie Kloss. Vogue has declared it the “cut of the moment” in a four page feature story in the January issue, saying “the season’s new hair is swingy, sexy and refreshingly easy to wear”.

The cut was the brainchild of Garren Defazio. It rests just above the shoulders, with some layering in the front, and is topped off with bangs. It echoes the signature 1960s haircut of Jane Birkin.

Versions of the cut, with its length hovering somewhere between the chin and the shoulder, and with a few layers and fringe of bangs, has been spotted on models like Arizona Muse, Catherine McNeil, Karen Elson and Lilly Kwong.

Earthly Delights

Get a jump on spring polish trends with understated neutrals evoking the faint shine of afternoon sun rays, the bloom of a new budding branch or the glistening sheen of a rock. Spring nails are all about earthy organics.

The new nude nail has organic texture and a matte and shine contrast in shades of washed-down gray and peachy salmon, as well as luminescent transparent hues.
